Al jaren stond deze machine bovenaan op mijn verlanglijst. Al jaren vroeg ik mijzelf af of ik krankzinnig geworden was: 600 euro voor een mixer? Als het nou een alleskunner was…
Ondertussen kocht ik hier en daar een handmixer, een staafmixer en noem maar op. Allen gingen binnen no time stuk. Niet omdat ze zo slecht waren…. nee nee, ik gebruikte ze enorm veel. Als er een meldpunt apparaat mishandeling was… enfin. Nee, die Kitchenaid, daar wist ik wel raad mee. Maar die prijs he…
Toen ik bevallen was van onze tweede dochter, kreeg ik er eentje cadeau van mijn lief , als dank dat ik twee gezonde meisjes op de wereld gezet heb. Ik ben er héél blij mee… mijn man inmiddels ook!

Typisch Kitchenaid

Als eerst hebben we natuurlijk het retro uiterlijk, of je houdt ervan, of niet. Een tussenweg heb je volgens mij niet, want het uiterlijk is behoorlijk uitgesproken. De prijs van een Kitchenaid liegt er niet om: je betaalt tussen de €550,- en €600,- voor een mixer met mengkom, drie gardes/haken en een spatschild. Dan kun je eigenlijk alleen kneden, mixen en kloppen. Er zijn verschillende opzetstukken te koop waardoor je je Kitchenaid uit kunt breiden. Ook deze zijn wel aan de prijs.

De mixer onderscheidt zichzelf door een ‘planetaire mengbeweging, waardoor alles echt goed gemengd wordt. ‘ dit houdt in dat de garde draait, maar de houder van de garde ook, die maakt grotere cirkels.

In de doos trof ik aan:
een loodzware machine
3 gardes (garde, kneedhaak en bisschophaak)
Een RVS mengkom
Een anti spat deksel
De gebruiksaanwijzing

De handleiding is overzichtelijk, echt een boekje waarin alles goed beschreven staat. Ik raad je aan om het boekje echt goed te lezen, er staat van alles in wat het gebruik van je machine écht ten goede komt.

De machine is loodzwaar en dat komt omdat de machine volledig van metaal is. Er zit natuurlijk ook een flinke motor (300 watt) Moeten we het daar nog over hebben? Ja? De Kitchenaid is populair mede om zijn briljante looks. Een retrodesign verkrijgbaar in alle kleuren, per kleur een paar verschillende tinten. Ik heb de Keizerrode. In het midden op de kop tref je een afdekplaatje aan, hier kun je uitbreidingen op vastzetten, zoals bijvoorbeeld een citruspers opzet. Links op de kop zit een hendel waarmee je de snelheid kan reguleren: er zitten 10 snelheden op. Rechts zit de hendel om de kop omhoog dan wel omlaag te zetten. Onder de kop zit een haak waar je verschillende gardes of haken kunt bevestigen. Daaronder tref je een plaatje aan, waar je de mengkom op vast kunt zetten. Dat is het. Niets ingewikkelds aan verder.

Standaard zit er een 4,83 liter RVS mengkom bij. Dit is groot genoeg voor bijvoorbeeld een brooddeeg om een brood van 800 gram te bakken. Een flink cakebeslag gaat ook met veel gemak.

Verschillende haken

Zoals gezegd wordt de machine geleverd met drie gardes/haken:
– De garde: dit is om eieren, slagroom etc. luchtig te kloppen. Maak hier geen pannenkoekenbeslag mee, alles wat je met de garde klopt wordt zéér luchtig. Ideaal om meringues of Pavlova’s mee te bereiden.
De bisschophaak: deze gebruik ik het meest. Deze is geschikt om beslag te kloppen zowel voor pannenkoeken als cake. Ik gebruik deze ook om mijn quichevulling te mixen: eerst met de garde de eieren luchtig kloppen, daarna de overige ingrediënten erdoor, die anders in de draden van de garde blijven zitten.
De kneedhaak: geschikt om degen mee te kneden, zoals een taartbodem of een brooddeeg. Deze haak is open aan één kant, zodat het deeg goed gemengd wordt en niet aan de haak blijft zitten.
Een garde of haak bevestig je door hem in het pinnetje aan de kop te steken, omhoog te drukken en te draaien tot je een klik hoort. Eraf halen ook simpel, hoewel je hem dan ook indrukt en draait, moet hij losschieten i.p.v. vastklikken.
Het schild is vooral héél handig als je de garde gebruikt, dan spat het niet zo (gut, je meent het…) werkt  erg goed, maar hij zit los op de mengkom. Je klikt hem dus niet vast. Goed opletten hoe je het schild erop zet, anders heb je er niet zoveel aan. In het schild zit een opening zodat je ingrediënten tijdens het mixen toe kunt voegen.

De Mengkom zet je op het plaatje en met een halve draai zet je hem vast. Doe dit altijd, anders gaat je kom aan de wandel en komt al het goeds uit je mengkom letterlijk op je af!
Links zit de hendel(zwart knopje) om hem aan en uit te zetten, dit is tevens de hendel om de snelheid te regelen. Je hebt 10 standen waarbij 0 dus uit is. Rechts zit de hendel(zwart knopje) om de kop omhoog of omlaag te doen, dit heb je nodig om de gardes/ haken te wisselen of bevestigen, maar ook om de mengkom eraf te halen of erop te zetten. Het afdekplaatje voor de accessoires zit vergrendeld met wederom een zwart knopje. Dit knopje kun je uittrekken zodat het plaatje loskomt.

Belangrijk!! Kijk of de garde niet de bodem van de mengkom raakt, dan loopt hij aan. In de handleiding staat precies hoe je dat kunt verstellen middels een schroefje onder de kop. Dit hoef je alleen de eerste keer te doen, alle gardes en haken zijn even hoog.

Ervaring

Dit apparaat doet wat hij belooft; hij mengt, klopt, mixt en kneedt. De motor is zeer krachtig, al merk ik bij zware brooddegen dat  het allemaal wat te krap is, deze mengkom. Voor zover ik weet zijn er voor deze mixers geen grotere mengkommen te koop.

Toen ik de machine net had maakte hij een vreemd, raspend geluid. Het bleek een koolborsteltje te zijn wat aanliep. Dit is verholpen door de dealer. Die vertelde mij dat een Kitchenaid sowieso even soepel moet worden, dus schrik niet van een wat knarsend geluid, dit gaat écht over!!

De machine maakt flink lawaai, maar dat vind ik ook wel horen bij zo’n machine. Ik vind het een fijn geluid. De kop bonkt soms wat mee als de substantie dik is(deeg!!) en ook dat is normaal.

De gardes/haken was je z.s.m. met de hand, mengkom kan in de vaatwasser.
Ik raad je aan om de machine na elk gebruik even af te nemen.

Wat mij betreft het enige nadeel: het snoer is net geen meter en mijns inziens erg kort.

Er zit 5 jaar garantie op het apparaat, dit zegt wel wat over de degelijkheid van het apparaat. /toen mijn eigen K.A. voor reparatie aan het koolborsteltje weg was, kreeg ik een leen kitchenaid mee. Deze was acht jaar oud en duidelijk veel gebruikt, maar liep nog als een tierelier!

Voor de Kitchenaid zijn vele accessoires leverbaar, zo kun je de Kitchenaid omtoveren tot pastamachine, citruspers, rasp, ijsmachine etc. Hier heb ik zelf geen ervaringen mee.

Ik ben groot fan van mijn Kitchenaid, maar ik sta dan ook veel in de keuken. Ik gebruik hem zeker2x per week, soms vaker. Hij is, mede door zijn design, elke euro meer dan waard. Tegen mijn man zei ik: ‘wat jij met dure auto’s hebt, heb ik met de Kitchenaid.
Zeker met 5 jaar garantie, vind ik de prijs wel meevallen. Daar staat tegenover dat een gemiddelde keukenmachine van €150,- bij mij max. 1,5 jaar meegaat.
